With Startup in Residence, Groningen will actively cooperate with startups to think of new and creative solutions for social challenges in the city this year. In total, 26 entrepreneurs have enrolled for the first edition of this program, of which three for the challenges that Campus Groningen had put forward. The startups will pitch their solutions in the upcoming two weeks to the municipality, Groningen Seaports and Campus Groningen. The final selection for the program will be announced end of August 2018.
"The challenges in parking, sustainability and exercice in public space on Campus Groningen will benefit immensely from a creative approach. We are looking forward to thesolutions of the three companies that want to dive into these three challenges", according to Lisanne Brakenhoff-Smits, Project and brandmanager of Campus Groningen.
Joost van Keulen, alderman Economic Affairs in Groningen, is excited about the number of participants: "We don't call ourselves a City of Talent for nothing, so this means also that we have a duty to use our talent as much as possible. It is great to see that so many startups want to put their thinking caps on and contribute to the city."
