Bytesnet receives a 1,8 million grant from the Regional Investment fund Groningen (RIG) for the building of a new datacenter on Zernike Campus. The center was opened on 17 November 2018 in the presence of minister Van Engelshoven, and costed about 11 million euro. The first earthquake resistant datacenter in the Netherlands is one of the most energy efficient in Europe. A great impuls for the business climate on Campus Groningen!
The new datalab offers more than just safe and reliable storage of data and fast connections. In the datalab there are spaces available for work, presentation, research and testing for clients and partners of Bytesnet, amongst whom several knowledge and research institutions and innovative companies from the region. Besides this, d'Root also has facilities for high performance computing. These computers with high computing power are neccesary for instance for scientific research and the processing of big data.
