Startups and larger companies have a lot to offer each other. The challenge is to get in touch with each other and to actually work together. Groningen OPEN has been launched to facilitate this collaboration and to offer established companies in the Groningen region the opportunity to get in touch with startups in an accessible and effective way. This initiative by Founded in Groningen and Campus Groningen aims to connect larger companies and startups by means of challenges, in order to increase innovative strength, growth in employment and social impact.

The formula

Within the open innovation challenge 'Groningen OPEN', we invite large companies to formulate well-defined challenges. Based on that challenge, they are linked to one or more suitable startups from Groningen and the surrounding area. In a flexible and personalized program of 8 to 12 weeks, startups work together with companies and are supported in this by the network of Campus Groningen and Founded in Groningen. The focus in the challenges is on the sectors in which Groningen is strong: Health, Agrifood, Chemistry, Digitization and Energy.

About Groningen OPEN

Participation in Groningen OPEN is open to companies and startups in the Groningen region. Where commitment from both parties is important. From September 1, startups can register for a challenge and we will actively look for suitable matches.
