Royal Van Wijhe Verf expands with R&D centre on Campus Groningen

Tue, 7 July 2020

On 1 June 2020, Koninklijke Van Wijhe Verf (KVWV), the paint manufacturer in Zwolle of the brands Wijzonol, Ralston and Solidlux Coatings, among others, has considerably expanded its R&D facilities with a research laboratory at the Zernike location of Campus Groningen. The new facility will be the centre for the development of innovations and will accommodate 15 employees.

According to Marlies van Wijhe, CEO of KVWV, this expansion stems from the company's ambition to further develop its expertise in the field of sustainable, innovative raw materials and additives for applications within and outside the paint industry. As a family business, we think in generations. We want to make the world better for those who come after us. We do that by making quality paints that protect what is valuable. And we want to do as little unintended damage as possible to the climate and the environment. That's why we invest heavily in sustainable innovation.

Biobased hotspot

According to Ron Hulst, KVWV's R&D Manager, Campus Groningen was deliberately chosen as the location for the new R&D centre. Campus Groningen is a hotspot for the biobased economy and has state-of-the-art facilities. KVWV is already working with the knowledge institutes in Groningen, and is strengthening the contact on the Campus with this R&D centre. We expect that the collaboration and exchange of knowledge with highly educated researchers from the University of Groningen and Hanze University will certainly contribute to innovative and sustainable developments'.
