Registrations for the Half Marathon Groningen powered by Campus Groningen are now open. The first edition of this unique running event will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025. The course for the half marathon combines the best of Groningen. It promises to be an experience every running enthusiast shouldn’t miss. Starting today, December 10, 2024, registrations are officially open!

The start and finish will take place at the Zernike Campus. The half marathon course consists of a single loop, starting and finishing at the lively Zernike Campus. The route takes runners through the rural areas towards Dorkwerd, the green Noorderplantsoen, and the vibrant city center.

Organizer Johan Meijer (Golazo) says: "We’ve long had the ambition for a Half Marathon with a single-loop course. The time is now right for this, and with Campus Groningen and its partners, we have found a fantastic supporting partner to start off strong. As the powered by partner, Campus Groningen sets the tone for the energetic and innovative atmosphere of the event. Together with its partners, it supports the event, which places sports, movement, and connection at the heart of the city."

A Distance for Everyone

The Half Marathon Groningen is for all runners. This event is an evolution of the energetic Dwars Door Groningen. In addition to the half marathon distance, you can choose the 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer, or the 2.5-kilometer Kids Run. A special Family Run will also be added to the 5-kilometer distance. This is the perfect way to stay active as a family and run the 5 kilometers together.

On May 25, 2025, innovation and movement will come together at Campus Groningen. Campus Groningen, where innovation and collaboration set the pace, is the ideal place, just like running a half marathon, focusing on perseverance, concentration, and becoming stronger together. This innovative location will serve as the start and finish point on May 25, 2025. Campus Groningen and its partners (RUG, Hanze, UMCG, City of Groningen, Province of Groningen, and WEST) play an important role as supporting partners for the event.

Lisanne Brakenhoff, manager of Campus Groningen, is excited that registrations are officially open today: "This afternoon, during our annual Campus Christmas gathering, we will hand over the first race numbers with Golazo to a few leaders from our campus community. They will take their first steps with us toward the half marathon. Training can begin!"

Friends of Beatrix Children's Hospital

The Half Marathon Groningen is supporting Friends of Beatrix Children's Hospital this year. The organization is encouraging all participants to make a difference for seriously ill children by making their time in the hospital more bearable. Sports for sick children and supporting wellness projects that reduce stress and ensure a more comfortable stay. Together, we can make a difference for our patients!
