AI Factory sets course for Groningen: Niemeyer chosen as the intended location for the expertise center

The arrival of an AI factory in Groningen has been officially confirmed! Congratulations to the consortium and financiers who have worked hard to make this unique facility a reality.

The European Union is investing more than 71 million euros in the project, which means that the financing is now complete. Together with contributions from the Dutch government and the Nij Begun Economic Agenda, the total investment amounts to around 200 million euros. The investment will be used to build a supercomputer and set up a centre of expertise for artificial intelligence. The intended location for the AI factory's centre of expertise is Niemeyer, a development by MWPO in collaboration with Campus Groningen. This will give the northern Netherlands a unique place where knowledge, technology and entrepreneurship come together to shape the future of AI. Niemeyer is the intended location for the centre of expertise, while another location in Groningen is being sought for the supercomputer.

Collaboration

The AI Factory will be a collaboration between education, research, government and industry, with the aim of developing AI applications that contribute to social and economic progress. Niemeyer fits in seamlessly with this vision: together we are creating a place where collaboration on the digital future is central.
