About the Blaauw Observatory
The Blaauw observatory was opened 11-9-2008 and is primarily intended for the teaching of astronomical techniques to students of the Kapteyn Institute in Groningen. The observatory was made possible by the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Groningen and by a generous donation from the Gratama Stichting. The observatory came into operation in September 2008. The 6.5m dome houses a 40cm telescope.
