Biblionet Groningen

Biblionet Groningen is the network organization behind the public libraries in the province of Groningen. We encourage residents to grow, connect, get inspired, and actively participate in society. We do this on behalf of the Province of Groningen and nine local municipalities.

We also serve as a Provincial Support Institution (POI), meaning we are part of the province’s structural cultural infrastructure. Our mission is to help transform the traditional lending library into a broad, socially and educationally focused library.

Our organization includes 32 library branches, 5 “Bibliopunten” (small library hubs), 5 pickup points, around 220 school libraries (Bibliotheek op school), and a central office in the city of Groningen where operations are managed. With approximately 160 staff members and over 800 volunteers, we deliver professional, innovative, and customer-oriented services—not only for our members but for all residents of the province of Groningen.
