Information for entrepreneurs on Proxima

If you're a business owner on Zernike Campus and have a question or complaint regarding the Proxima student housing, you'll find all the information you need here. Below, we provide details on house rules, security, and contacts for addressing any concerns or inquiries you may have.

Starting August 8th 2024, the first residents will begin moving into the new Proxima student complex on Zernike Campus. This building offers 401 rooms and can accommodate up to 802 international students during the peak period at the beginning of the academic year. It’s important that local businesses are informed about where to direct their questions regarding safety and community well-being. In this newsletter, you’ll find more information about SSH and where to report any disturbances.

About SSH

Stichting Studenten Huisvesting (SSH) is the owner of Proxima and a specialist in student housing. SSH manages over 19,000 student rooms and apartments in Utrecht, Tilburg, Rotterdam, Zwolle, and Groningen. Other student complexes managed by SSH in Groningen include Libertas, Upsilon, and Plutolaan

Proxima House Rules

For international students, there are specific rules: they must be quiet after 10:00 PM, be considerate of the surrounding area, stay off business premises, and dispose of their waste in the underground containers at the complex. There is ample bike storage on-site, and a few parking spaces are reserved for residents and visitors. SSH also directs students to use the P+R Reitdiep for additional parking. A Property Manager has been appointed to oversee Proxima.

In general, international students adhere well to the rules. In cases of rule violations, there is a conversation and a warning issued. For repeated violations, another discussion follows, and appropriate measures are considered.

Contact Information for SSH and Security

Patrick Markies is the primary contact for property management matters in and around the complex. Security is also present outside office hours, from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

SSH Contact Information:
- Phone: 088 - 730 42 00
- Email: info@sshxl.nl
- Proxima Address: Zernikepark 33, Groningen

If there’s a need to meet with local business owners in the coming period, this will be organized and communicated via the business park association.
