Since early May 2025, red-and-white barriers have been placed in the middle of the bike path on Paddepoelsterweg, near the intersection with Crematoriumlaan on the Zernike Campus.

Why the barriers?
The municipality and its partners have installed these barriers to prevent cyclists from cutting the corner when turning left from Paddepoelsterweg onto Crematoriumlaan. The goal is to remind cyclists of the right-of-way rules and help prevent accidents.

Right of way and funeral processions
Cyclists coming from Paddepoelsterweg do not have right of way over traffic on Crematoriumlaan. Also, please note: cyclists must always yield to approaching funeral processions. It’s respectful to wait until the entire procession has passed.

How long will they be there?
The 30 red-and-white barriers will remain in place for now. Based on the results and user experience, a decision will be made about a permanent solution.
