Reconstructing Southern Ring Road

Reconstructing Southern Ring Road

The southern ring road of Groningen is about 12 kilometers long and crosses the city of Groningen, from about Hoogkerk until Euvelgunne. It is an important road for the traffic to and from the city, but also for passing traffic. From 2015 until 2021 the southern ring road will be reconstructed.

Update June 2018: the construction works will take two years longer, until 2023.

Planning

The ring road works start in the beginning of the year 2018. According to the palnning, the road is to be finished in 2021. Builder Combination Heerepoort makes a distinction of the total 12 kilometers into four blocks: West, Julianaplein, Zuiderplantsoen and East. The bulk of the works will be in 2018 and 2019.
